Conditions of the Eye

Below are eye conditions that can be treated (depending on the advanced stage of the disease). While this is certainly not to be used or considered as a diagnosis, if you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please call Groat Eyecare at 336.373.1442 or your personal physician for an appointment.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Caused by diabetes, this effects the retina’s blood vessels and causes vision to be either sharp or blurred. Diabetic Retinopathy can be treated with Laser Surgery (destroying the diseased tissue).

Glaucoma

High fluid pressure in the eye can threaten your eyesight, reducing peripheral vision. Laser Surgery can improve drainage, stabilizing vision.

glaucoma_peripheral_vision

Macular Degeneration

An abnormal growth of new blood vessels can cause a loss of central vision. Laser Surgery can destroy these unwanted, new vessels, causing vision to improve or stabilize.

macular_degeneration_centra

Central vision loss due to Macular Degeneration.

Retinal Tear

If there is a tear in the retina, you may experience floaters, spots or flashes. Laser Surgery can seal the retinal tear, prevent detachment causing flashes to disappear.

retinal_tear_floaters

Floaters caused by a retinal tear.

retinal_tear_bright_spots

Retinal Vein Occlusion

If the retinal vein becomes blocked, it produces a hemorrhaging and fluid leakage. This can cause vision loss in that eye. Laser Surgery may help reduce the leakage helping to stabilize and improve vision.
